Congratulations on your engagement! This is a very exciting time for you, and can be a little overwhelming. So here are some Helpful Bridal Hints to answer some of your questions and get excited about shopping for your dream dress!

Do I need an appointment?
On Saturdays, we are by appointment only. Walk-in's are welcome Tuesday through Friday, but please understand that appointments do come first and there might be a wait if an appointment is not booked. We have two types of appointments. A VIB Appointment (Very Important Bride) and our Signature Bridal Appointments. Refer to our Request for An Appointment page to choose your type of appointment.
What should I expect when I arrive for my appointment?
It is our goal to ensure you have a memorable and wonderful experience when choosing your wedding dress with us. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by one of our professional bridal consultants, who will treat you as our personal guest. You will feel very at home and cozy in our country cottage ambiance. You will then be escorted to your personal bridal viewing area. Your personal bridal consultant will spend some time getting to know you and the people in your party. She will ask you some questions about what you are looking for in your bridal gown, and listen carefully to you so that we can find you the wedding dress of your dreams!
Do I need to bring anything to the appointment?
It is not necessary for you to bring anything to your appointment, however, if you have a strapless bra that you are comfortable in you might want to bring it. If you want something more secure, we do have bustier’s here to try on with dresses that are for purchase. We also recommend that you wear neutral colored undergarments. If you have the pair of shoes that you plan to wear in your wedding, please bring them with you to help you as some gowns can be ordered in petite length or with extra length. Also, if you have something sentimental that you plan to wear, for example a piece of jewelry or a veil, please bring those items as well. It is also beneficial to come with ideas about what look you are going for, and feel free to bring pictures of dresses that you like as well!
Do you have gowns that are within my budget?
Our special order wedding dresses start at $1100 and go up to $3000. We have select sample gowns that can be sold off the floor that are $1000 and below. We understand weddings can get very expensive. We respect your price point you have established for your dress. It is our policy that we only show brides dresses within their budget.
Do have dresses in my size?
We have a very large selection for you to choose from and we stock dresses from size 6 to 26. However, if you fall in love with a dress that is not in your size, we can order that dress for you. Please remember that it takes some designers up to 4-6 months to make a dress! If it is in the designer’s stock, it can be here in a matter of weeks.
What type of styles do you carry?
We have a variety of gowns from the couture gown, for the classiest of weddings to the informal gown, for the fun beachside bride!
Do you carry accessories?
We also specialize in creating your complete bridal look. We have everything to accessorize your special gown from belts, jewelry, veils and shoes.
How many guests can I have in my party?
We recommend that you bring no more than 5 guests--and of course the person that will be making the final decision with you. However, we realize that some brides want to bring more. In that case we ask that you inform us how many people will be joining you so that we can make sure that we can try to comfortably accommodate your entire party. Please understand we are a small boutique. And just remember that trying on wedding dresses is unlike trying on regular clothes and it can be an overwhelming and emotional experience and it is important that the focus be on you.
Are children allowed?
Because of the nature of this environment, we ask that if you bring children, that you hold their hand and accompany them at all times. We do not recommend bringing children under the age of 5 as it can be very distracting to the entire process to have young children present.
How far in advance do I need to start shopping for a gown?
Ideally you should start shopping for your wedding gown 8-12 months in advance. Most designers take 4-6 months to make a wedding dress and you need to make sure that you have enough time for alterations and bridal portraits. But if you don’t have that much time, we do have options. The majority of our designers offer rush delivery and they also keep some of their dresses in stock. We also have a wide selection of Sample Sale dresses. These dresses can be purchased so you can take home that day. I’ve found my dream dress! What now?
FOR SPECIAL ORDERS: If we are ordering your dress, we will take your measurements and based on that designer’s size chart we will determine the size that will fit you best. A 50% deposit is required before we can order your dress. Please understand, that once your dress has been ordered there can be no cancellations or changes made. When it arrives, we will look over the dress and steam it for you. Then, we will contact you and make you an appointment to come in and try it on! Once you are notified, you will have 30 days to pay the remaining balance and pick up your dress. If you would like for us to keep your gown longer, then it’s a $50 a month charge for storage.
FOR OFF THE FLOOR DRESSES: We do have a wonderful layaway plan to help you. The layaway plan is ONLY for off the rack dresses. Layway is a 30% deposit with 3 equal payments over 3 months. Or you are more than welcome to pay the full balance and take it home that day.
How do I pay for my dress?
We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. Checks are not accepted. All sales are final. No refunds, exchanges or returns.
Do you offer alterations?
We do not offer alterations on-site, but we have seamstresses in central Arkansas that we highly recommend. If you know someone who sews or does alterations make sure that they are experienced and comfortable altering your wedding dress. Wedding gowns take much more effort and attention to detail.
Do you have bridesmaids dresses?
Yes we do! If you buy your wedding gown from The Bridal Cottage, you receive 15% off your bridesmaids dresses! We typically like to schedule a separate bridesmaids appointment, because your bridal appointment should be focused on you. We welcome you to check out the bridesmaids section of our website.
