The Bridal Consultant Bride

On New Year’s Eve, Bridal Cottage Consultant Alli became more than just a Consultant, she became a Bride! Naturally, we were all very excited for her! We’re excited for all of our brides! Beginning a new journey and creating a new life with your other half is so wonderful… We try to imagine ourselves in our brides’ shoes. Which emotions must she be feeling?

For Bridal Cottage Consultants who are married, we recall those first moments in being newly engaged and when we found our dresses. But for the rest of us that have not experienced becoming a bride, a bridal mindset does not come as easy. So, we turned our questions to Alli and this is what she had to say:

How was the transition from Bridal Consultant to Bride?

“The transition was immediate. It was an odd feeling being on the other side. I still love working with my brides, but now when they ask me, ‘Are you [engaged]?’ I proudly say YES!! …And ask for their advice!”

How did you prepare for your appointment?

“I didn’t prepare for my appointment! As a Consultant, I see this all the time: Brides that haven’t tried on see pictures of bridal gowns and think that they know what they want, but when they actually come in to try on their style preference changes, which is perfectly normal! I was interested in mermaid, no lace… And I chose exactly the opposite of what I thought that I wanted. I was prepared to be surprised with the dress that I fell in love with!”

What did you think when you tried on the first dress?

“I was super nervous!! It felt weird trying on dresses. Even though it was super fun, it was crazy that it was finally my time to try on. It was very exciting and nerve-wracking before I got in the first gown.”

How important to you was it that your family was there?

“It was very important that my family was there. I wanted them involved on my special day. I also wanted their opinions to help me pick the perfect gown! I wanted to share my experience with the people that I know truly care for and are there for me!”

How did you know that your dress was “the one”?

“I tried on maybe 10 or 12 dresses. I even tried on some dresses for fun! But, as a Bride, trying on each dress, you know in your heart if it’s the perfect one or not. I tried on dresses that I thought were beautiful and that looked great on me, but when I had on “the one”… there were no doubts! It just fit so perfectly into what I wanted. The dress chose me.”

Why didn’t you try any other dresses on?

“My dress was the last dress that I tried on. As soon as I saw myself in the mirror, I forgot about all the other dresses. My dress just stood out to me so much that I knew that I had to say yes!”

Is there anything else that you would like to add?

“Yes! When trying on gowns, the dress chose me! With a great Bridal Consultant, I believe that any bride’s dream gown can be found! I knew that my bridal gown was at The Bridal Cottage. And it was an honor for Bridal Cottage owner, Lindy, to take my appointment. I wasn’t searching too hard for the perfect gown. I was preparing myself for the unexpected. I knew that it would be beautiful in the end!”
